You may have seen before that I am an Odeon Limitless member. I have been for just over a year now. I have really enjoyed it as it’s meant I am actually getting out the house and seeing films I might not have gotten round to seeing. Last week the newly refurbished Odeon Wester Hailes was reopened as an Odeon Luxe. I was really excited to try this out as it was quite run down looking before.
An Odeon Luxe is a fancy Odeon, this is only the second one in the UK. All 8 screens have reclining, leather seats throughout. We went on a Friday night to see Murder on the Orient Express. Firstly on coming in the ticket machines were not working and there was a massive queue which wasn’t great for a new cinema. We waited in the queue and my pre-booked ticket hadn’t gone through and had been resold. Slightly annoying but the staff couldn’t have been nicer about trying to problem solve. One thing I would say is they must have had ‘customer service training’ recently about making every customer feel special, give them a compliment on what they are wearing, as three separate members of staff told me they loved my jacket. Unless it maybe is such an awesome jacket. Am I being skeptical? Anyway, we ended up getting resat in the very front row which we were a little unsure about but with the reclining chairs, it was actually okay.
The chairs are set up so they are kind of in twos with an armrest between you. This is nice as it allows you to relax with whoever you are with but also I was thinking might be awkward if you didn’t know the person next to you. They have a wee table which I liked so no longer balancing your popcorn and snacks on your knee. The seats recline back and allow you to put your feet up. It’s a definitely worth it. I am such a wriggler at the cinema because I never can get comfy, this was great and really comfy.
There is a Costa in the cinema (it was pretty slow service but hopefully that is just a starting out getting used to everything thing) there also is a bar that serves fresh pizza too. The bar prices didn’t seem too bad. One thing I would say is even for it being a Luxe cinema, the tickets are only £8 for peak time. That seems really reasonable. It’s well worth the trip out-of-town!
Murder on the Orient Express
I thought I would use this post to share my thoughts on the film too. I really enjoyed it, I wasn’t sure what to expect and I really can’t stand Johnny Depp. However the rest of the cast was outstanding, especially Dame Judi Dench (Fun Fact: Dame Judi was at my graduation ceremony) She is wonderful! I actually thought Poirot was Ewan MacGregor not Kenneth Branagh but still an outstanding performance none the less. The film is good to guess along and I think there are lots of twists along the way to keep it interesting. The only thing with films like this is I struggle to re watch them as I know what happens.
Have you seen it? What did you think?
N.B All photo credits are to the Scotsman because I was going to take pictures but it took so long to get the ticket situation sorted I ran out of time.
